Early Years Foundation Stage

Tapestry is an online journal recording all the learning and fun of children's early years education. Tapestry allows parents to log on, via an app or the internet, to their child's learning journey and get a real sense of being part of their day at nursery. Practitioners can upload photos and snapshots of children throughout the day, add observations and track each child's development throughout their time at Playdays. Parents can use Tapestry to add observations and pictures from home and keep up to date with their development progress.

All of our settings work to fulfil the requirements of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) 2012. Practitioners will observe, assess, plan and implement a range of learning experiences for each child, according to their age and stage of development. A child’s stage of development will be identified using the Development Matters in the Early Years Foundation Stage 2012 documentation.

All practitioners within the nurseries observe and support children’s Characteristics of Effective Learning, Areas of Learning and Development, focusing on the Prime Areas of Learning and then beginning to support the Specific Areas of Learning. Each setting also promotes the British Values; encouraging children to be able to make decision together, supporting children to understand boundaries and behaviour while also supporting children to be free to be an individual and to have a mutual respect for others as individuals, no matter their gender, disability, culture or religion.
